How and when you should clean your period cup?
Lucy MeacherWondering on how to clean your period cup properly between uses? Perhaps that's one of the reasons you haven't given a cup a go yet! Follow our step-by-step instructions below to keep your period care routine as convenient and hassle-free as possible.
First thing's first - always remember to wash your hands thoroughly before you go anywhere near removing your period cup! As per the usual removal process, pinch at the base of the cup to break the seal and gently pull to remove. You can have your period cup inserted for up to 12 hours, however, this is very much dependent on your flow.
Tip out the contents from your cup into to the toilet, or you can do so in the shower, and give it a rinse in some water. Make sure to clean and rinse the entire cup, including the tiny holes just under the rim. It's important to keep these clean as they help to break the seal when inserted!
When you've rinsed your cup, either re-insert it straight away once it is empty or some like to lightly dry it with some loo roll or a towel. This is completely up to you, but some prefer to leave it wet for an easier re-insertion!
And you're done - just like that! Now you can continue your day without worrying about your period cup - quick, convenient, and hassle-free!
