About Period Friendly Places

Period Friendly Places (Charity 1192211) aims to eradicate period poverty by providing free period products at 47 community venues across Bristol, so that people can take what they need when they need it.

The Charity is run by volunteers and almost all of the products we distribute are donated by the generosity of the general public.

Their work raises awareness of the issue and beyond the point of need help, they encourage the use of sustainable and reusable products.

  • Why is it needed?

Period poverty is a lack of access to menstrual products, education, hygiene facilities, or a combination of these, due to cost. Often leading to overuse of sanitary products, presenting significant hygiene and health risks, as well as missing school or work.

  • Why Bristol?

41.2% of women and girls in Bristol have been affected by an inability to afford menstrual products compared to the national average of 27%. Additionally, Eleria as a company was created in Bristol, and so we want to help give back to the place where it all started.

  • Why Period Cups?

Cups are reusable, made from medical grade silicone and can be left inserted for up to 12 hours. One cup donation can help take someone out of period poverty for up to 10 years. As a result charities will be able to help so many more people, products need to support a person significantly decreases with reusable options.

FAQ's

What is the Donate a Cup scheme?

The Donate a Cup scheme is facilitated by our partnership with Period Friendly Places. They are a charity that work with local communities across Bristol to ensure those impacted by period poverty are able to access products when and where they need them. To get involved, simply purchase a cup to donate here and the cup will be sent directly to Period Friendly Places, to distribute to people who are unable to access period products.

Who benefits from the cups I donate?

Each cup is donated to someone who is unable to access period products, mostly due to financial costs. Eleria cups can be used for up to 10 years, meaning they will no longer need to access disposable, single-use products.

Why is donating a cup important?

With so many people across the UK
overusing sanitary products or missing school due to period poverty, it is important to provide reusable menstrual cups that can be used for up to 10 years. Menstrual cups are suitable for any lifestyle, can be worn for up to 12 hours. They are made from 100% medical grade silicone, meaning they are a healthy and hygienic option, to prevent hygiene complications or infections.

Is there a difference between purchased cups and donated cups?

No, all cups, whether they are purchased or donated, are the same high-quality products.

Each donation comes in a small box, including a menstrual cup, instruction leaflet, and small cotton drawstring bag.

Can I donate more than one cup?

Yes! You are free to donate as many cups as you’d like. The more cups we can donate, the more people we can help.
