We’re on the road! We took our Eleria cups to Freshers’ Fairs (and here’s what happened)

If you were at Bristol, Oxford, or Cardiff Freshers’ Fairs this year, you may have spotted us, our stash of menstrual cups, and our pastel-coloured spin-the-wheel! Freshers' Week marks the beginning of an exciting year for the new (and returning!) students across the UK, and we wanted to make our mark by sparking open conversations and making sustainable period care more accessible.
Why we showed up: our mission.
At Eleria, our mission is simple: to make sustainable products convenient, accessible, and affordable. Part of that mission means showing up and getting in front of young people, initiating conversations around menstrual health, and empowering them to make eco-conscious choices that may have felt daunting before speaking to us.
Why students?
It’s no secret that the cost-of-living crisis has made university life more expensive, so we wanted to help ease one thing: the cost of periods. The average person uses around 22 disposable products per cycle, totalling over 10,000 products over a lifetime (pretty astonishing, right?)
One Eleria cup is £17.50. That’s £17.50 that you won’t have to spend on your period for the next decade (aka, more money on pints and meal deals!)
Students are also increasingly conscious of their environmental impact, with more wanting to make the switch to reusables, they often just need the chance to ask questions and get a quick demo. We loved being able to break down worries, share tips, and build confidence in using menstrual cups.
And finally, we’re passionate about helping younger generations challenge period stigma. Periods aren’t taboo, they’re totally normal, and it’s time our conversations reflected that.
The Freshers’ Fair Experience (the fun bit!)
The fairs were absolutely buzzing, packed with energy, excitement, and of course, freebies. The studennts loved getting involved in our spin-the-wheel (with free cups and discount codes up for grabs!). Across the fairs, over 40,000 students came through the doors, giving us incredible visibility, with even some returning students recognising us from last year!
Thanks to our founders, Kira and Monica, we were able to answer any questions, demonstrate how to use our products, and challenge menstrual cup misconceptions head-on. With thousands of students getting involved, we gave away over 200 free menstrual cups and hundreds of exclusive discount codes, for even cheaper sanitary products.
Students were particularly excited to discover our range of different cup shapes, a win for comfort and inclusivity, and we encouraged them to take our cup quiz online to find their perfect match. For those already using cups, our Cleaning & Sterilising Case was the standout hit, solving one of the biggest pain points of cup care!

What we learned
Freshers’ Week was the perfect way to kick off the academic year. We’re so excited to continue working with universities and societies across the UK to host informative sessions and workshops focused on menstrual wellbeing.
Every conversation reinforced how vital access and education are and reminded us why Eleria exists. We’re here to build confidence, community, and connection around menstrual health.
