Pastel coloured period cups on a coloured background.

What are the differences between each Eleria period cup stem?

Lucy Meacher

You may notice that our period cups each have a different stem. They aren't just for the funky shapes and colours. It might actually be a deal-breaker for you when choosing your cup!

Let's take a look at each one:

Sturdy Stem

This one can be found on our Green One. For some, it's the easiest to remove, especially for beginners, as it's sturdy (hence the name!) and easy to grab. It can also be trimmed if you find that, once inserted, you can feel the stem or if things feel a little uncomfortable.
Do take care if you decide to trim it, start by trimming little bits off at a time until you get it just right.

Classic Stem

Found on our Pink One, the classic stem is nice and easy to remove, similar to the sturdy stem. This cup has a slight curve to it to conform to your body, this might make it a little trickier if you are a beginner!
If you feel you might need to might need to trim the stem due to your cervix height, for instance, why not take a look at The Purple One, or the Yellow One?

Ball Stem

This stem can be found on our Purple One. For some, it can help the removal of your cup a lot easier as the ball gives you something to grab onto - remember, the stem is just there to help you locate the cup, you shouldn't use it to pull your cup out!
This stem is great if you have a low or average height cervix as it is shorter and therefore less likely that you'll need to trim it.

Long Thin Stem

The Blue One is great for users with a high cervix, where your cup goes in a little further when inserted. So, the long thin stem makes it easier to reach your cup to remove whilst being as comfortable and feeling as invisible as possible!
This stem is also more flexible as its quite thin, therefore if it does stick out you're less likely to be able to feel it!

Ring Stem

The Yellow One is also great if you have a lower or average height cervix, it's designed so that it's less likely to poke you and cause you discomfort or irritation.
Although this stem can be trimmed, its a little trickier due to the shape, so if you feel like you might need to, do keep this in mind and be careful not to cut a hole in the bottom of your cup!

Top tip! When you're getting the hang of using your cup, tie some cotton string to the ring for an even easier removal - but ensure you do not tug at the cup when removing - just use the string as a guide to finding and gently removing your cup.
